¡¡¡¡As the skeleton Materials of prestressing concrete structures
and bridges, the anti-corrosion performance of prestressing
strand play the most key role for the safety and durability
of the structure. The impact of corrosion degree of strands
to the quality of the projects has been concerned by the international
prestressing industry.
¡¡¡¡For improving the anti-corrosion capability to adapt to
the evolving prestressing technology requirements, through
research and comparison of the current various anti-corrosion
strands with anti-corrosion properties, FASTEN introduced
the world's most advanced automatic production line in 2003
to produce the Filled Epoxy-Coated Strand(FECS), which meet
such standards as ASTM A882/A882M and ISO 14655:1999. The
Filled Epoxy-Coated Strands were applied successfully in bridge
in 2005.
¡¡¡¡FECS has excellent anti-corrosion performance because its
out layer and gap between steel wires are completely filled
with epoxy resin. The corrosive medium can¡¯t enter the inner
strand because there are no pinholes in the epoxy coating
along the surface of FECS through production monitoring and
follow-up treatment. So it can be used as the external cables,
stay cables etc. without PE coating. The strength of FECS
is higher than its parent strand because of its special structure.
The grit-impregnated filled epoxy-coated strand has the same
bond strength with concrete compared to the parent strand,
so it can be used in the inner of concrete structure. At present,
FECS occupy more than 80% share of the whole epoxy-coated
strand market in the world, it is the preferred anti-corrosion
strand product in the prestressing projects.
